History & Social Science

History & Social Science at HBA

Many high school students dread their history classes. At many schools, the classes require students to read enormous amounts of information in a textbook and absorb and retain countless names, dates, and events that often seem irrelevant to their daily lives. Writing historical essays can also be a challenge for many students. Those who struggle with writing often have a hard time getting meaningful feedback from their teacher about how to improve their writing to make it college-ready.

HBA’s history teachers are experts in engaging students with interesting content and developing study skills so that they can tackle the large-scale research assignments that await them in college. Our teachers focus on developing reading, writing, presenting, and general study skills. HBA teachers use a wide variety of materials and teaching methods in their dynamic lessons and class activities. Our history courses are capped at 10 students per section so all students get the individual help that they need to achieve their goals.
