Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish 1 with a grade of C or better.

Course Description:
Spanish II is designed to review and build upon material presented in Spanish I. The activities provided are designed to increase the student’s proficiency in the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The program utilizes small group activities and students’ involvement. It presents a more complex structure and awareness of the Spanish culture. Success in this class depends heavily on the student’s cooperation, participation, curiosity and consistent practice in and out of class.

Methods of Evaluations:
Students can be evaluated through tests, quizzes, class work, homework, oral testing, projects, semester exams and / or any other forms of evaluation instruments the instructor finds applicable to the course.

Pace of Instruction:
First Semester: Chapters: Para Empezar – 4A
Second Semester: Chapters 4B-8B

4. Verbs with special construction ( gustar, encantar, faltar, disgustar…)

7. Affirmative and Negative (tu, ud, uds, nosotros) Commands
8. Preterite Regular and Irregular
9. Imperfect vs. preterite
10. Estar with past participle and/or used as adjectives
11. saber vs. conocer
12. Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns
13. Stem-changing verbs
14. Por vs. para
15. The present subjunctive
16. Irregular verbs in the subjunctive
