High Bluff Academy welcomes students from all nations. This school is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students on F-1 student visas. For those students coming alone, guardianship and housing can be arranged with local host families.

High Bluff Academy accepts students entering grades 9 through 12 who have some proficiency in English. English language learners with emerging ability can take our sheltered ESL classes for English and History, as well as a Speech course to practice their public speaking skills. Extra support and accommodations are provided for all classes until students are able to perform at grade level without assistance. Our small school is the perfect supportive environment for your student to gain confidence in English.
APPLICATION PROCESS
STEP 1: Fill out the Application Form and send it along with a copy of your passport to admissions@highbluffacademy.com
STEP 2: Schedule your online interview with HBA by emailing admissions@highbluffacademy.com
After receipt of the Acceptance letter and I-20, the student must complete the following:
STEP 3: Complete the DS-160 Non-immigrant Visa Application.
STEP 4: Contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to schedule an interview. You can check the wait time for an appointment here.
Once you receive your student visa, or are notified of a denial, please contact the school at admissions@highbluffacademy.com
STEP 5: Pay the SEVIS Fee for the I-901 online at Dept. of Homeland Security website.
You will need to get your students cleared by a doctor and a dentist before they come to the U.S. MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE IN THE U.S. even with insurance. You will need to submit PROOF OF IMMUNIZATIONS. Please click here for a list of vaccinations required by the State of California.
STEP 6: You will need to purchase medical insurance for a period covering the student’s first day of arrival until the expected departure date.
HOMESTAY AND GUARDIANSHIP: Students are welcome to make their own arrangements for housing and guardianship. HBA can provide these services through a third party. You can access the information here.
Tuition
Tuition for grades 9-12 is $26,000 for students who have been attending a school where English is the primary language of instruction. Students who apply from schools where English is not the primary language of instruction will incur an ESL support fee of $3,000 unless they can provide proof of English proficiency score as follows:
- TOEFL score of 61 iBT with writing score no lower than 19 and no section score below 14
- IELTS overall band score of 5.5, writing score no lower than 5.5 and no section score below 5.0
- Cambridge English B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE) minimum score of 168. (160 and above eligible for pathway program)
- Duolingo score of 95
Homestay fees vary between $16,000 – $18,000 for the school year. HBA does not provide homestays, but will help students to find a homestay through one of the local homestay companies.
